6/26/2002 So little time these days.We finally have a new telephone number. I'm hoping the telemarketing calls will stop now, at least for awhile. We had an ISDN line, and we switched it over to a regular phone line. We even got rid of our second line. We're a normal, one line household again. Feels weird. ^_^ I had a lot of fun with Melanie, but that was one of the longest damn shopping trips I've ever been on. But fortunately, I didn't spend all that much money. That's always a plus. And I brought home some of her modeling pictures to make prints. They're so good! As soon as I have them done, I'll post them. I get to see Robin and Trey this weekend, so I'm very happy. ^_^ And then I'm going to Brannon's for the 4th of July. Of course, my parents don't know that yet... Hmm... Thank God it's almost Thursday. Thursday is good. It means the week is almost over, and I'm getting paid. Yay! I have a dentist appointment tomorrow, though. That's not so great. But it's okay, 'cause I get paid tomorrow. That makes everything better. ^_^ It's amazing how much faster receiving goes when I have someone to help me. Cuts the time in half, I think, so I have a lot more time to do other stuff. I haven't decided yet whether I like that or not. Probably the latter, as long as I keep having to do inventory. I hate that. Some things are so disorganized I have no idea what the things are or how many we have of them. I mean, really, get your damn inventory organized so I can find what I'm looking for! Argh. Have you ever seen a two and a half foot long wrench? It's really kind of funny. But that's beside the point. I don't remember what the point actually is anymore, so let's move on. Ellie and I saw Enigma last night at the Capri. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend it. ^_^ Allrighty... I need to be getting to bed soon. Another fun-filled work day tomorrow. Bah. I was supposed to be with Ellie and Jessica tonight, but I guess that will have to be later...Charlie got black marker on one of my favorite shirts. I'm so God damn pissed. It better freakin' come out or kitty's going to be an orphan. And we're getting new telephone numbers and kitty killed a lizard. More details when I get back. ^_^ Have a good weekend everybody! posted 5:37 PM / post 6/19/2002 I just found out I get paid every week, instead of every other week, like I previously thought. That means tomorrow's payday.I'm a very happy girl. ^_^ posted 9:49 PM / post 6/18/2002 Highlight of my day: Watching Chuck climb into the trash bin and start jumping up and down, in an effort to make more room. The geniuses I work with (i.e., Charlie, Chuck, and David) forgot to take the trash out to be picked up yesterday, so now we have a bin full of cardboard boxes and packing material to deal with for the next week. And I'm running out of room to throw stuff away. Argh. Oh well. It was funny, anyway. ^_^ Listening to: Nothing. AH! ^_^ posted 10:04 PM / post 6/17/2002 I feel like I never have free time anymore. Argh! So, yeah, I've been working. It's only about 6 hours a day, but for me that's a lot. I've never actually worked before. But it's not so bad. Sometimes the receiving keeps me so busy in the morning that I'll glance at my watch and think, "Oh my God, it's noon already." So. Once I make it to lunch, the rest of my day is usually pretty relaxed. Which is good. ^_^ I went riding with Ellie a couple days ago. There's a stable/riding academy in Millbrook that I never knew was there. It seems to be run completely by volunteers. So they don't make any money, they just charge money by the half-hour in order to take care of the horses. Anyway, Ellie and I were on Dakota and Cody, and they were so sweet. Of course, my stirrups had to be shortened to the very top hole... Which was vastly amusing to Ellie. But anyway, it was a lot of fun. Next time I go, I'll have to remember to bring a camera so I can get a picture or two of the horses. I finally got my new desk in. I have sooo much more space for my computer stuff now. If the batteries in my camera weren't dead, I'd take a picture. And fortunately, it matches the rest of my furniture pretty closely. It's a little bit lighter, but I can deal with it. By the way, if you've never seen State and Main, you should. Despite what dumbass says, it's a good movie. ^_^ Oh! I almost forgot. I added some new photos, so go take a look. Listening to: Drawn to the Fire from Once More, With Feeling posted 9:38 PM / post 6/8/2002 Another lovely day at work and another day closer to a paycheck. Whoo-hoo!I think I have my schedule pretty much worked out. I'll go in at 9:00 am, in time for the UPS shipments to arrive and stay until about 3:00 pm, which is when UPS comes back to pick up any shipments that are going out. In between those times, I'll be working on receiving packages and getting orders ready to be shipped out, and when I'm not doing that, I'll work on the website (when I get a computer in a week or two). And beyond that, answering the phone occasionally; i.e., when Sherry or Sulema are out. So it's just enough work to sound like a full day but not enough to drive me completely insane. Poor Charlie has the worst of it, being a truck driver. He has to work from 8-5 everyday. Although, really, he's not working for the last hour or so, he just stays so he can get paid for an extra hour. ^_^ Ellie and I just went to see Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. It really was great; I'll have to go back and see it with my mom or she'll kill me. I was surprised at how many people were there. I mean, yeah, it was opening night, but a 10:30 pm show in Montgomery? Even on a Friday, it seemed like there were more people than usual. And older, too, not just teenagers. There was a group of middle-aged women sitting next to us who were wearing feather boas. ^_^ Quite amusing. I bought White Oleander a couple days ago on Ellie's recommendation, and it's been really good so far. I hate buying books anymore because they're so expensive, but I desperately needed new reading material. If I read Helter Skelter one more time, my mom might start to worry about me. Well, for different reasons, anyway. But seriously, that's my fall-back book. I think I've read it all the way through at least three times in the last year, and it's not exactly light reading (besides the subject matter, it's almost 700 pages long). So yeah, a new book was definitely a good idea. Listening to: A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton. posted 2:13 AM / post 6/6/2002 God, I miss my friends. This sucks. posted 11:44 PM / post 6/5/2002 I got through my first day of work. Yay.It took me three hours to get through this morning's shipments. Which means three hours of standing. Argh. And dad wants me to stay till 5 every day. I think not. He has a stupid reason for it, too, but I don't feel like explaining it at the moment because I feel like I've said it several times today already and I'm being repetitive. Maybe later. The starter in Charlie's car died, which means I have to take him to work at 7:45 tomorrow morning, since he has to be there by eight. I normally wouldn't go in till 9 or 9:30. Dammit. Dammitdammitdammit. Did I say dammit? And I still need to call my doc. Why oh why can't I remember that??? Dammit some more. I think I'm going to bed now. posted 11:36 PM / post Wow. Now there's a touchy subject...posted 12:41 AM / post Charlie finally dragged his ass back from Texas, to the great relief of kitty (and myself, since I don't have to put up with a crying cat anymore).I also have a job. And I babysat tonight, so I'm $35 richer. Always a plus. But back to the job. I'll be filling in downtown for my dad, receiving UPS shipments in the warehouse, checking the contents of each package and comparing it to the invoice. Loads of fun. But apparently that only takes an hour or two, and after that, I think I'll just be doing odd jobs around the office. Except for when Sherry is on vacation next week, then I'll have to answer phones and stuff. And I don't have to go in till 9:30 or so, and that's a very nice thing. ^_^ Argh. I miss my friends. I had a lot of fun with my old high school friends, but it's just weird not having my friends right down the hall from me. IMs and the occasional phone call just doesn't do it for me. I need contact. Although I am glad to have Ellie back. Speaking of which, send some good thoughts to her dad. He's been in the hospital for the last few days because of a tear in the esophagus. :( Listening to: Heaven Sent by Heather Nova. posted 12:14 AM / post 6/2/2002 So much to catch up on. I feel a lot better now that I'm on the meds again, but I still feel a little... off. I can't quite figure out what it is. But whatever, I'm sure it'll work itself out. I need to call my doctor, though, and tell her I had to start again. I never got around to it last week, and I'm going to need a refill soon.I went to lunch with my dad on Friday, and afterwards, we went shopping for my new desk. We finally ended up ordering this one, but without the hutch since I have a window right above where the desk will go. The color should match the rest of my furniture pretty well. At least I hope it does; I'm tired of having three different kinds of wood in my room. The bookcase doesn't stand out too much, but my current desk is an antique that belonged to my grandma Rose, and it looks completely different from everything else. I love it, but it just wasn't made to house a computer. Hence, the new desk. Last night, I went out to dinner at Chappy's with Ellie, Heather, Kiki, and Jessie. We ended up talking there for an hour and a half, and then went on to Kiki's house where we talked for another 9 hours. We didn't get to sleep until sometime after five. And when we woke up in the morning, around 11, we hung around a talked a little, had a little "breakfast" and then went home. I finally made it back to my house around 2. But my internet was down. And it didn't start working again until about an hour ago. Damn Knology. This is the second time in as many weeks that I've had a problem with the internet connection, and it's always on their end and not mine. I hope this isn't going to be a permanent thing. I took some really good photos out at ASF a few weeks ago, but I haven't gotten around to adding them to the photo album yet. I'll try and do that in the next few days, but first I need to get my Moondance pages coded and sent in. Summer edition goes up soon, and I'm behind schedule because I didn't get my copyedited articles until a few days ago. In fact, I'm still missing one. Argh. When Brannon, Robin, Lisette, and Trey were here last weekend, we went out to see Shiloh Rules at ASF. It was fantastic, so if it ever happens to be performed in your area, you should definitely do yourself a favor and go see it. ^_^ Charlie's in Dallas at A*Con with some of his friends, and poor kitty has been so lonely. The first night he was gone, kitty cried at the bedroom door for hours until I finally just let him out. For some reason, he's perfectly happy to wait quietly for Charlie in the desk chair in the living room, but not in Charlie's room. Which makes for a rather noisy night. When he gets tired of crying at the door, he'll start throwing himself against it, which it makes a nice, loud banging noise as the door hits the doorframe on the other side... I'll be glad when Charlie gets back. We don't seem to be a sufficient replacement for him. Listening to: Tomorrow Never Knows by Our Lady Peace. posted 1:15 AM / post |
