3/27/2002 Sorry for the inrequent updates. Since spring break started, I've been busy sleeping my days away. And a good portion of my nights, as well. ^_^ But I think I'm all caught up now, and since Ellie will be around for the rest of the week, I'll have a reason to be, well, conscious. ^_^ She gets in tonight sometime, I think around 9, so after she gets back from the airport, I'm going over so we can have some talk time. She's been so busy, we haven't had much time for that lately.. Ah well. C'est la vie.Kitty and I have been getting along exceedingly well since Charlie left. He's even taken to sleeping with me instead of waiting for Charlie in his room. He seems to have figured out that he's not coming back for a little while. Which is good, 'cause I can finally get some quality time with him. ^_^ I'm such a freak, I know. But hey, I love that cat! Friday, as I was waiting on Melanie to finish packing up (she made me come back, 'cause she needed someone to talk to), Brannon left to go on her first official date with Trey (lunchroom boy ^_^), but..... She took my keys by accident. And left hers sitting on the table. I can't even remember when I got them back; it was either Saturday or Sunday. Poor thing had to stay until Tuesday because crazy Fiona wanted her to help put the set back up for Hay Fever. They had to take it down last week so someone else could use the stage. So Brannon only gets five days of real vacation, instead of nine. Ick. I think I would've told Fiona to shove it. Well, using more tactful words to that effect, anyway. ^_^ And I finally finished Final Fantasy VII. Thank God. I don't think I'll start 8 until this summer... If I start it now, I won't have time to finish before Charlie takes the PSX back to Tuscaloosa with him, and then I'll be very annoyed. So. I wait. Listening to: Whole Again by Jennifer Knapp. posted 8:20 PM / post 3/20/2002 I completely forgot about uploading my audrey site. I finally noticed it today, and I went ahead and uploaded it. I need to update it, too... But not tonight. ^_^Listening to: Law & Order. posted 10:30 PM / post 3/19/2002 I don't feel like typing up my whole weekend, so I'm just going to say it was fun and leave it at that. ^_^Laurel had an extra alarm clock, so she gave it to me so I have an alarm that works. It was very nice, actually getting up on time and making it to my 8:00 class on my own. Strange feeling, though. I feel so productive; I went to all my classes today. And, yay! No art history Thursday. That leaves a pretty easy week, except for drawing, which is still driving me crazy. We're working on tone and shading, so for some reason, he's making us sketch a still-life onto watercolor paper, and then we're going to use paint to learn shading. I don't know why, since it's a drawing class, but we pretty much have to do what he tells us. Anyway, we're all lined up in front of the still-life, sketching, and he goes up and down at least 4 times during class to check on everyone. Passes me by without saying a goddamn word every time. The last time he did it, he was making a point of stopping to talk to each person about their piece; he started at one end and worked his way down. Skipped me completely. I don't think he said one word to me the entire class. Gee, maybe he's finally picking up on how much I hate that fucking class! Argh. So I finally got out of there around 3 and came back and took a nap until dinner time. I have nothing to do tonight; everything on tv is repeats, and I don't have any homework... Except for drawing, but what are the odds I'll work on that? I remembered this morning that Tuesdays are the days Ellie has off, so I called her and we talked for a little while. It turns out she gets out a little early for spring break because of Passover, so she's coming home the Wednesday night of my spring break. Yay! We'll have a few days before I go back to school, and then she can still come visit me at the dorm while she's here during the following week. Much fun. ^_^ I took some pictures before the party on Friday night; if I ever get around to transferring them from my digital camera, I'll link 'em. They should be pretty funny. ^_^ Listening to: Strong by Velvet Chain. posted 7:01 PM / post 3/18/2002 I just heard the worst story ever. My friend Jessica who lives upstairs went to bed around 5:30 Sunday morning. Right after that, a couple of fraternity guys she knows came in and were talking to her, and just generally bugging her. One crawled onto the bed and promptly passed out. When he woke up two hours later and left the room, Jessica got up and closed and locked her door so he couldn't get back in. Then she went back to bed to try to get some sleep. But a few minutes later, she heard one of her clustermates screaming from the next room, "Get the fuck out of our room! and thought, "Uh-oh."She got on her IM and asked what was going on, and her clustermate told her to get over there now. Would you like to know what that asshole guy did? Let me mention, by the way, that he was completely drunk, and Jessica thinks he was on something else, too. Anyway, he urinated in that girl's clean laundry. Yeah. Ruined some of her brand new clothes and a really expensive pair of shoes. Then he went to the common room and passed out on their sofa. My God, were they pissed. The girl called dean Frank (dean of students) at his home at 8:00 on Sunday morning and told him what happened. Then she called security to come get him the hell out of their room. This guy was the president of the Sigma Phi Epsilons. Not anymore; they fired his ass. He can't come to any Greek events for one year. Which pretty much eliminates anything not sponsored by the SGA. And he's not allowed to speak at all to any girl who lives in cluster 406. There will probably be more, but at this point (since it only just happened yesterday), we don't know what else they'll do to him. I feel so sorry for his girlfriend. Can you imagine how embarrassing that would be, to find out your boyfriend did something like that? I don't think she even knows yet. She lives just down the hall from us. Anyway. I just had to type that up; Jessica told us about it at lunch. I'll talk about my busy weekend later. ^_^ Listening to: Something very strange and un-identifiable coming from Brannon's room. posted 12:49 PM / post 3/12/2002 I had to take my car into the shop yesterday to fix a slow leak in one of my back tires. I thought I'd have to leave it overnight, but they fixed it right then, so I got it back. ^_^ I was very happy. I heart my car.Afterwards, I drove over to the mall and applied for a summer job at Express. I spend so much money there I figured I might as well see if I can work there, since I need a job anyway. Maybe it'll save me some money on my clothes. ^_^ Earlier in the afternoon, I went with Melanie to the cancer center and we filled out volunteer forms. It's mostly office/clerical work, which is what I prefer. And it'll give me something to do on some of my afternoons that I don't have classes. My art history class was cancelled this morning, so after my 8:00 digital art, I came back to my room and slept till lunch time. If only I were so lucky more often. ^_^ But while I was sleeping, some storms came in, and it's all rainy and yucky outside... I hate going to class in the rain at all, but art class even more because I have to not only climb three flights of stairs once I get there, but carry all my crap through the rain. That I hate. So I'm skipping. I've missed two classes before, but those were for good reasons. I think I deserve one skip day. He can get over it. Listening to: Brannon singing Wide Open Spaces by the Dixie Chicks. posted 2:14 PM / post 3/10/2002 Well. Interesting day. Melanie begged me and begged me to go home with her this afternoon, so that she wouldn't have to drive by herself. So I finally gave in (mostly so she'd shut up), and we drove to Skipperville (yes, Skipperville). We had some pretty good conversations, especially on the way back, so that was nice. We went to dinner with her mom and little brother and her grandfather, and then stopped by her house to do her laundry. After that, we went to babysit Lacey and Adam; they live here in Montgomery, but were visiting their grandparents, who live in Skipperville. I absolutely adore Lacey; Melanie has brought them over here before when she babysat them. She's a little spoiled, but she eventually gives in. Of course, a lot of children are like that. But anyway, it was kind of fun. ^_^The trip back was kinda funny. We passed seven animals on the road. All alive, fortunately, and we didn't hit anything. No, wait, it was eight. First, there was a cat. Then something we couldn't quite see because there wasn't any light. Third, a rooster. Yeah. We literally almost hit the chicken crossing the damn road. Fourth and fifth were two little black dogs on the side of the road, and then closer to home, there were two deer, also on the side. Thank God. It would've sucked to hit them. I really need to type my art history notes... I haven't since our first test, which means I'm probably about 100 works behind. It'll take forever, I'm sure. But it's gotta get done, or I won't be able to study very well. But it can wait till tomorrow. ^_^ Listening to: If I Saw You In A Movie by Heather Nova. posted 1:03 AM / post 3/8/2002 I'm no longer Forbidden. ^_^ At least I hope not. I can see me now, anyway. I hope you can, too. ^_^Tonight was absolutely hilarious! We went to the Mr. Huntingdon pageant. Everyone voted on 7 sophomore/junior guys to be in the contest, and then they compete for the title. It's just like a real pageant, only funnier. ^_^ And the person I wanted to win, won! YAY! He's the sweetest, funniest guy ever. Everyone adores him. ^_^ And then we went to Marble Slab for ice cream. Always a good thing. It's really quiet right now... Laurel's at the beach, Brannon is still in Mobile at SETC, Rebecca went home, and I think Melanie's out with her friends. So it's just me. ^_^ And Robin's roommate moved out; she was so sad... Leanne's been sick for about 2 weeks and has been at home this whole time. And since it's midterm already, she and her parents decided to just take a medical leave and she'll come back next semester. So. Oh well. Actually, I know there's another "real" reason why she's leaving, but I don't know what it is. Jessica mentioned it in the car tonight because she thought I already knew... But I didn't. Apparently, the medical leave thing is just what Leanne wants people to know, and there's something else. But I didn't ask, so... Oh well. I hope it's not anything serious. I went out to dinner with my mom last night, to lunch with both my parents today, and out to Subway with Jessica and Robin tonight... So I haven't had to eat in the dining hall in two days. ^_^ It's great! But now I think I'll go read, or something, and wait for Mel to come home. Nighters! ^_^ Listening to: On My Own by Peach Union. posted 11:49 PM / post 3/6/2002 We had to take Melanie to the ER last night. She has bronchitis, and she made the mistake of taking her antibiotic with a muscle relaxer, which caused a drug interaction... We waited for 2 hours at the nearest hospital and still didn't get to see a doctor. It's completely ridiculous. The wait was the same at the other we went to, so Melanie decided to just go home and sleep, and then go see her own doctor today. When we got to the hospital, she couldn't stand up or walk at all, so we had to help her in and get her a wheelchair. Basically, she was really dizzy and disoriented, and we took her to the hospital just to be on the safe side. But during that two-hour wait, the drug interaction problem seemed to fade, and she started having back spasms. She has the worst back problems of anyone I know. There were times where she was completely hunched over, squeezing Ginny's and my hands enough to hurt us, and crying. Unfortunately, this seems to happen to her a lot, and no matter how many different doctors or chiropractors she goes to, they can't seem to figure out what the problem is. It's really painful to watch. So, anyway, we got back last night and she went to bed. Then she actually got up and went to class this morning; I was impressed. And now her dad is here, and they're going to see a neurologist this afternoon. She's had three MRI's since she's been here, and nothing ever seems to come up. I don't know, maybe they'll find something this time. In happier news, Brannon finally went out with lunchroom boy! YAY! She's been obsessed with him for months. ^_^ Not obsessed obsessed, just cute obsessed. She'd wave everytime she saw him and complain when he wasn't working. ^_^ And a couple of days ago, they got a chance to talk a little because they have some mutual friends, and last night he invited her over to his apartment for movie night. There were other people there, so it wasn't like a date or anything, but she had so much fun. It was so cute! She got all happy and giggly yesterday afternoon. ^_^ I've had a really easy week so far, as classes go, but I have a lot of work due at the end of the week (like tomorrow and Friday) that I need to get done. All my Tuesday classes were cancelled except for art history, so for Monday through today, I only had one class a day. But by tomorrow, I need to do a new drawing for art class and come up with a topic for my research paper in art history. And Friday, I have to have a catalog cover designed for digital art (which I haven't started yet because I have no idea what kind of cover he's asking for; I think it's the college catalog, that has campus information and course listings, but that doesn't really make sense, since it's really plain. Like grey cardstock with the school name and logo in red kind of plain). And I need to do an LAS essay this week. So busybusybusy, but not really. Since I haven't actually started yet. ^_^ Unfortunately, I really should do that now.... Damn. Listening to: Tom's Diner by Suzanne Vega. posted 2:51 PM / post 3/4/2002 I'm working on changing my webhost, so don't be surprised if the site is down or looks weird or whatever in the next couple days. ^_^posted 2:14 PM / post What a lovely weekend. I went home Thursday afternoon and took Friday off, and I didn't come back until 10 this morning, in time for my class today. Once again, sleep was just about the only order of business. ^_^ Surprise. I finally got around to balancing my checking account after a 2-month lapse, so at least now I know how much money I have. I found something weird, though. There are two checks I made in November that were never taken out of my account. I wrote a check for $40 for Miracle Worker tickets at STJ in the first week of November, and they still haven't cashed it. And the first night I was in Boston with Ellie, we went to John Harvard's Brew House, and they never charged me, either. I still have the receipt... Oh well. I'm not complaining. ^_^Shit. I just remembered I was going to tell my dad about changing my major while I was home over the weekend, and I didn't. For some reason, mom thinks this is going to entail a long discussion, so to humor her, I decided to at least tell him in person so I can gauge his reaction myself. Now I have to wait another week. Bah. I hope mom doesn't let it slip before then. ^_^ I tried to call Ellie twice yesterday, but she wasn't there. I left a message, but she didn't call back either. Now you can't get mad at me, 'cause I did call. ^_^ And drawing class tomorrow is cancelled, so YAY! Now I have a little more time to work on the assignment that was due. I need to go check the still-life and finish one object, and then I should be able to finish it in my room. He's really picky about the lines being "crisp," and it's driving me crazy. Like it really matters whether the line is 1/4 cm thick or 3/4. Weirdo. Listening to: When I Grow Up by Garbage. posted 1:07 PM / post |
