5/28/2001 I finally got around to updating the links on the left. Broken ones are fixed now, and I added two more.I've been trying to come up with a new design, but I like this one so much, I might actually stick with it through the summer. That would be a record for me. ^_^ In other news... By about 9:00 tomorrow night, I'll be a high school graduate. ^_^ Yay me! Listening to: Nothing. Wow. posted 1:05 AM / post 5/23/2001 Wow. Pretty close.
posted 7:52 PM / post 5/22/2001 In about seven hours, I'm taking my English exam. Do you think it would be helpful to review the books I'll be writing essays on? Yes? Well, okay, if you feel I must...On Wednesday, I have my second and last exam. Macroeconomics. I haven't studied for that one either. As long as I don't fail, I really couldn't care less. And at this time next week, I will have graduated from the hellhole that is Saint James High School. Unfortunately, they're sneaking in one last way to torture us: the ceremony is being held outside. Unless, by the grace of God, it rains, we'll be stuck outside in graduation robes (that are surprisingly warm) for at least two hours in 80-90 degree weather. I guess it depends on how fast it cools down that night... Sunset isn't until about 7:30 now, so it could still be pretty hot. Evil bastards. No, really I'm not bitter. *cough* Moving on! In other news, I'm now 18. Now those idiots at Carmike Cinemas can't keep me out of R-rated movies. *evil laughter* Does that seem weird to anyone else? That practically every other theater in the country lets in 17-year-olds, but not Carmike? It's been very irritating. One of our last senior parties was last Friday night (except for the one after graduation of course ^_^). About 40 people on a riverboat for three hours. Well.. About 25 very drunk people on a riverboat with 15 others to keep them from falling over the rails. But it was certainly fun. ^_^ I finally got around to developing my film, and I have two rolls worth of pictures I need to scan now. ^_^ I was surprised at how well they turned out. They're never that good! There's one in particular that I just love. A sunset over a lake that I took at one of the parties. I think it's one of the best I've ever taken. This film dates back to last Christmas, by the way... I have a new blog layout designed in the same colors as my new starlet design, so after I finish these exams, I'll put it up. I think it's very pretty. ^_^ I guess I'll be off now to re-read the sparknotes on Wuthering Heights and Heart of Darkness. Studying is always helpful when taking an exam. posted 2:45 AM / post 5/14/2001 My birthday is on Saturday. I'll be 18. Yay me! ^_^My AP Government exam is tomorrow morning. I haven't studied at all except for the review tests he's given us. I'm sure I can handle the multiple choice, but for the essays, I'm pretty sure I'm screwed. ^_^ It's supposed to be current events, and since I don't read the newspaper or watch the news.... Is it just me, or does anyone else think that stuff is too depressing to read/watch everyday? My mom is so happy... She had the carpets cleaned today. I think it was a Mother's Day present, but I'm not sure. In any case, our dining table is currently sitting between mom's desk and the computer desk out by the window. We can't put it back for 24 hours. This could be fun. In other news, I'm almost finished with a new design for starlet. It's pretty. ^_^ Hopefully it'll go up tonight. Listening to: Into the Woods music ^_^ posted 8:20 PM / post 5/12/2001 written three nights ago but not posted because of blogger problemsI just hit a cat. In the middle of nowhere. I have no idea where it came from. All I know is that I've never killed anything before and it feels horrible. Besides, most of you should know by now how I feel about cats. I saw it for a whole second right before I hit it. It was an orange tabby, and he was looking right at me. He was walking across the road, and when he saw my lights, he just stopped. And to make matters worse, about 4 blocks from my house, I almost hit a dog! He was just walking across the street, and when he saw my lights, he slowed down. While he did that, I slammed on my brakes, and between the two of us, we managed not to collide. He was about two inches from the side of my car; by the time I stopped, he was in the middle of it and not by the front, and could see him in my rearview mirror. He turned his head towards the side of my car and did something between a bark and a howl. More like a howl only short like a bark. So then I just watched him in the mirror, debating whether I should get out, but he looked all right, and eventually moved on down the street. I wish now that I had stopped and looked for a tag. It's one of my pet peeves about this neighborhood. People are so nonchalant about their dogs! A couple years ago one morning, this dog was just trotting down the street past my house as I was leaving for school, and for some reason my parents were out there with us to say goodbye, even though they usually don't. And my dad called him over to say hello and whatever, and he put him inside our backyard while I called the number on his tag. Well, whoever he got said to just let him out and he'd find his way home. And lately, I've seen this black lab wandering around in the evenings, toward dark, and I'm thinking, where are his owners? Don't they worry about where their dog is at night? Aren't they worried that someone will hit him, or something? And earlier this year, I was driving home after school, in the rain, and at one intersection, a kind of small one, but still kind of busy, there was this yellow lab right out in the middle. He wasn't in too much danger because there was a lot of traffic and no one could go very fast, so they were all careful not to hit him. But for a few seconds I considered pulling over and taking him home until I could figure out where he belonged; I mean, no dog should be wandering around an intersection, in the rain, on a Friday afternoon when traffic is heaviest. Ugh. People just make me wonder sometimes. posted 12:27 AM / post |
