Dad and I went car-shopping this afternoon. I have it narrowed down to two: an Oldsmobile Alero or a Volkswagon Jetta. The Alero is about $14,700 and the Jetta's somewhere around $15,000. Of course, Dad prefers the Alero, and I want the Jetta... Heh. We'll see who wins this one.

You should have known I wouldn't finish when I said I would. So I'll work on it during class again. ^_^

Sunday: All morning and most of the afternoon, different groups of people were sitting around the living room and talking. Mom hadn't seen any of these people in about 12 years, so they had some catching up to do. Around 6:00, some of Grandma's friends began to arrive for her birthday party. Basically, the rest of the night consisted of socializing and drinking (them, not me. the drinking, I mean). The cake was kind of funny.. Aunt Barbara ordered half-chocolate, half-vanilla with white icing; the second icing color she specified as maroon (to match Grandma's curtains ^_^). Well, that maroon icing turned everyone's teeth pink after eating it. I didn't notice at first, but I happened to glance in the mirror and think, "That's an interesting color." So I had to brush my teeth every time I had a piece of cake. ^_^ Anyway, everyone chipped in to buy Grandma a new microwave. Her other one was.. I don't know, 20 years old? Who knows.

Monday: This was the disaster. We had planned for us to spend the day talking and catching up some more, and maybe going out for some sight-seeing. But Ricky's ex-wife Marilyn called and wanted to stop by to see everyone, say hello to Grandma, and whatnot. Barbara told her to come on over. Well, she came and spent the whole day. And since Ricky and Dawn can't stand to be around her, they left and wouldn't come back until her car was gone. They stayed away the whole day. Marilyn didn't leave until about 5:30. Well, Ricky and Dawn were furious with her, of course, but also with Aunt Barbara; they thought she invited her on purpose, which of course she didn't; she was just trying to be polite. Ricky and Dawn thoroughly chewed her out that night when they came back. Barbara was furious with them then for being so rude. So basically, none of them spoke to each other for the rest of the trip (apparently, they are speaking again now).

Tuesday: This was a nice relaxing day, where everyone talked about the events of Monday. ^_^ We went out to dinner at the Olive Garden. They gave us a little room to ourselves; I mean, it wasn't separated completely from everyone else, but they didn't seat anyone in the tables around us. I sat with Barbara, Grandma, Tina, and Belinda at one end of the table, and Mom sat with Ricky, Dawn, and Matt at the other end. My group just listened to some of Grandma's stories (which were kind of funny, by the way; remind me, and I might tell one), and everyone drank. A lot. Except me, of course; but I could have, I'm sure. Afterwards, Tina, Belinda, and Matt went out to the restaurant Matt's girlfriend works at; she's the bartender. ^_^ So they drank so more. Then they went back to Matt's place. And drank some more. Belinda didn't drink as much as them since she knew she was going with us to the airport the next morning. Of course, Tina knew that too, but I think she was so drunk by then that she didn't care. ^_^ They came home around 1:30, and by then Tina was giggling and walking into walls. ^_^ Anyway, moving on..

Wednesday: We got up early (7, I think), and had breakfast. Belinda took care of Tina, but then she and Barbara could come with us to the airport. Mom and I said goodbye to Grandma, and off we went. We got there way early (as usual), and we sat around in the terminal and talked for awhile. Barbara and Belinda left eventually, not too long before the flight began boarding. They were going to a luncheon, or something, and had to get home. So, Mom and I left on time, got to Cincinatti (we're still not sure why they sent us from Wichita to Cincinatti, and from there to Birmingham.. Before, we went through Dallas/Ft. Worth, and there was a flight leaving for there about 15 minutes before ours *shrug). We had lunch at the Cincinatti airport, then flew to Birmingham. Dad was there to pick us up, and we drove home. I think we got there around 6:00. Ellie had left a message on the machine for me to call when I got home, so I did.. And ended up inviting her over for a few hours that night because she was bored out of her mind. Thursday, I went and spent the night at her house, where we watched about 10 episodes of Friends. ^_^ Friday, I went with her to work on the set for Into the Woods at the school, and went home after lunch. Then I slept. A very long time.

And now, here I am, back at school again. :Þ Oh well. At least we get a holiday next week for Easter. I love 3-day weekends. ^_^

In other news, the drama teacher, Mr. Harrison, and his wife have a new baby. ^_^ She was born Wednesday evening, and her name is Jessica. Yay! Tres has a sister. ^_^

Whew. Finally. That took me long enough.

As promised, here's a summary of last week, my spring break:

Friday: I slept in and then went to lunch with my parents. They go out to lunch together every Friday; I'm sure it started when my mom began working with him, but now that she's not, they've kept up the routine. Whenever I have a holiday (or in this case, a skip day ^_^), I go with them. After lunch, I drove out to the school, and I swear to God I burst out laughing when I saw the parking lot. I'd say there were about 20-30 cars, tops. I got there about 2:00 in the afternoon, and I was able to get my parking space up front. I went to my art class and my lit. in community class. In the latter, there were about five of us, and the substitute had already gone home. So we sat around for the whole hour playing cards and rearranging Browning's books in his bookcases. After school, I went to play practice with Ellie and basically just watched since there wasn't anything for me to do. Afterwards, we went out to dinner or a movie or something.. I don't actually remember. I didn't get home that night till about 11, and I still had to pack. I didn't get to bed until about 2 AM.

Saturday: Dad turned on my light at about 7 or 7:30, and I had to get up and finish my packing. We left around 8:30 and drove the hour and a half to Birmingham. Dad saw us to the terminal, of course, and then he went to visit with Charlie in Tuscaloosa for the day. Our flight left at about 11:15 (on time, I might add), and we got to Dallas/Ft. Worth about 1-ish. We had lunch at one of the restaurants in the airport, and then waited for our flight, which was supposed to leave at 3:45. Well, it got delayed until about 4:15-4:20. Eventually, we got on the plane and in the air, but about 10 minutes into the flight, the pilot came over the intercom and told us (yeah, all five of us passengers) that we had to go back to the airport because of some mechanical difficulties. So we went back. They canceled that flight, and they put us on a new one. At 7:30. Finally, we got on the plane, no more trouble, and we landed in Wichita around 9-9:15. My mother's Uncle Ricky and his wife Dawn were waiting for us when we got off, so we had a nice round of greetings... ^_^ ... and then we went to get our bags. We got to the house around 9:30 and met everyone else. Great-grandmother Irene, Great-aunt Barbara, my second cousins Tina and Belinda (Barbara's daughters), and the little dog. She was a present from Tina, I think, to Grandma Irene for her birthday. A toy fox terrier. Standing on her hind legs (which are no bigger than a pocketknife, without the blade out), she just managed to reach the edge of the sofa. We sat around and talked in the living room until about 11:30, and the I went to bed.

And the rest will be continued later tonight, hopefully. Class is almost over. ^_^

I'm so tired. I don't know that I mentioned it before, but I went to Kansas. 4-5 days. Met my mom's family. Now I know the insanity runs in the family. ^_^

I'll talk about it in more detail later. I hope everyone's having a good spring break. If you have one at all, that is. If you don't, I'm very very sorry.

Good night.

I had to skip the scholarship interviews Saturday morning so I could compete in the computer fair. My audrey site won first place in Level V Web Page Creation, so I got a little trophy and..... a $16,000 scholarship! That's $4000 a year. ^_^ Happy happy joy joy...

And on Sunday, Ellie and I went to the mall for lack of anything better to do, and we both found our prom dresses. Mine is dark bluish-grey, a little metallic-looking, and it has a little bead work at the top. It looks like the skirt and top are separate, but they're connected underneath. I'll have to have the hem taken up, of course, but other than that, it's perfect. ^_^ I'll have to post a picture later. And the date dilemma is beginning to look up. More on that later. ^_^ Now, time for art class! Yay!
