6/29/2000 After about half an hour of straight typing, I finally have an excerpt for you from Here Be Dragons. I'll work on the others later. ^_^ Enjoy!Listening to: I Try, by Macy Grey posted 3:26 PM / post 6/28/2000 Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been working on a new blog layout, and now I'm uploading it. Now it'll match my personal site. ^_^Today was bad. I had a dentist appointment. I hate those. Is it just me, or does toothpaste taste really bad? And then that awful fluoride treatment. ::shudder:: Disgusting. At least I didn't have any cavities.. Everyone should be very proud of me. I went to bed at midnight and got up at ten. I'm finally getting back to a normal schedule. ^_^ Let's see if I can keep it up. Oh. And I just remembered that I promised to put up excerpts from those books I recommended.. I guess I'll go work on that. ^_^ Later! Listening to: We Are the Lucky Ones, by Bif Naked posted 4:37 PM / post 6/27/2000 I've been so horribly lazy today. I went to bed at 5 this morning and got up at 4:30 in the afternoon. I didn't even do anything productive. Have you ever stayed in your pajamas all day? It's so comfortable..I've been uploading files all day, which is so incredibly boring because they're huge and take forever.. Ugh. Fortunately, there are only two more after this one, so about another hour oughtta do it. It's really not my fault that I've been going to bed so late! I blame the books. Everytime I try to go to bed, I think, "Maybe I'll read for awhile first." It's become a habit over the years, and it was all well and good at first. And then those horrible people called parents talked me to into reading one of their books by Sharon Kay Penman. Historical fiction. I finally relented because I generally like historical fiction (even though these particular books are between 800 to 1000 pages each..). And you know what happened? I started reading those damn things for upwards of three hours at a time. Which would be okay, but I usually start reading between 1 and 3 AM. ^_^ So, anyway.. If you have any interest at all in 13th-14th century England and Wales, try her books. Here Be Dragons (my personal favorite ^_^), Falls the Shadow, The Reckoning, When Christ and His Saints Slept, and The Sunne in Splendour. I'll try and post some excerpts soon so you can see what they're like. ^_^ But first let me emphasize.. They're fantastic! Easily the best things I've ever read in my life. ^_^ Listening to: Put Your Arms Around Me, by Texas posted 1:43 AM / post 6/26/2000 Oy.. I gotta stop spending money. But I just couldn't help myself this time. Perhaps my tired brain went numb.. Considering that it's 3:37 am. I've been looking for a Sailormoon 2000 calendar ever since last November, but I just couldn't find one. So when I came across this 2001 Sailormoon calendar, I just had to have it. ^_^ Another $20 down the drain..Time for bed, I think. Listening to: Anata Ga Oshiete Kureta (You Taught Me), from Magic Knight Rayearth posted 4:43 AM / post 6/25/2000 My father is so infuriating to work with. Ugh. I'm supposed to be designing a site for our family, the Reinehrs, with a history, and a password-protected section for the family members to stay in touch through. Sounds simple enough, right? That's what I thought. But, of course, he has his own ideas on how things should be done. Usually that wouldn't be a problem. But he's thinking only from his point of view. He has no idea how complicated or messy this could get. From what he's told me so far, this could very well end up a disaster. Yeesh.. I'm almost afraid to even show him the layout I designed. I think I'd better just stop asking him questions and let him give his opinion on the finished product. Might save a bit of trouble. ^_^Well, on the up-side for the day, we actually had fun at Emerald Falls. After the go-carts, we played a round of miniature golf, which I haven't done in about five years. So it was kinda nice. Darn. I hate it when he's right. ^_^ Listening to: Ai wa Enajii (Love is Energy), by Mitsuishi Kotono posted 10:51 PM / post I finished the graphic set I was working on. I'm not sure if I like it, though. It's a tad on the dark and dreary side. Anyway, if you'd like to take a look at Memory Book, go right ahead. ^_^ And if you have any comments, that's always nice, too. ^_^Our little family excursion got put off till this evening. I'm not sure if I should appreciate the reprieve or dread what's still coming.. ^_^ Listening to: Chinese Burn, by Curve posted 4:11 PM / post This is amazing. After all that horrible cleaning and working on that going-nowhere graphic set, I'm still in a wonderful mood. I got a wonderful email from Connie at blurb with another compliment on my site. ^_^ Wow.. It's these great little things that keep me happy. This probably won't wear off for days.. ^_^Listening to: Paranoia, by Harvey Danger posted 2:37 AM / post I finally finished cleaning out my bookcase. By the time I finished with that and what was in my closet, I had filled up two of those big plastic garbage bags. I literally had to drag that first one out because it was so heavy.. Oy. But on the up-side, I really have a lot more space. ^_^ Once I re-arrange the furniture, everything will be about as near to perfect as I can get it. Till I get the painting done. But that's another project.I haven't been feeling very creative lately. After re-designing two of my four websites, I got a tad burned out. But I am working on a new graphic set. I have it all put together in the layout image, but now I have to figure how to best divide it up.. Ergh.. Choices, choices.. Listening to: Pure, by Noriko Sakai posted 1:19 AM / post 6/24/2000 I haven't done much blogging today. Of course, that's bound to happen when you sleep till 2:30 in the afternoon. ^_^ But then I started cleaning up my room. Ugh. I had to clean out my closet and rearrange everything in there and in my bookcase. At least I have a lot more space now. Too bad the only thing I have to look forward to now is re-arranging the furniture. I don't know how I'm going to do it. I'll probably have to enlist Charlie for help. And then I get to paint. ^_^ My room now is so boring.. Cream everywhere. Carpet, walls, doors, windowframes, blinds.. And the ceiling is white. It's so drab! But I'm going to paint a dark blue stripe around the top with a thinner, lighter blue stripe under it, and paint the walls white. That plus the furniture re-arrangment should fix things pretty nicely. I'm just desperate for something new!I can't believe what I have to do tomorrow. I mentioned that I'm learning to drive, right? Well, my dad decided to play a cruel joke on me.. He's dragging the whole family to Emerald Falls, some sort of mini-amusement park, among other things, north of here so that we can drive the go-carts. All the way up there to drive go-carts. I kid you not. If I didn't love my family so much, I'd go insane... Listening to: Ice Cream, by Sarah McLachlan posted 10:12 PM / post Oh, this is great. ^_^posted 5:40 PM / post Mindspring finally let my mail through, thank you. There were six messages backed up. That may not seem like much to you, but I only get one or so a day, on average. ^_^And on an even happier note.. Thank you so much, April! I don't get a lot of comments on anything I do, and unexpected compliments never fail to make my day. ^_^ posted 5:33 PM / post Urgh.. Now I want to hit Mindspring! I haven't been getting any mail sent to my address there in four days! And that's my main address, too.. They won't even let me log in on the web-based email program. Anyone else having trouble with them? You know, I'm just realizing how very addictive eBay can be. I decided to take a look at it, since I never have before, and I swear I must have spent close to two hours just looking through Audrey Hepburn stuff.. Not to mention a lot of autographed photos. ^_^ Too bad you have to be 18 to register, or I'd have bought a lot of stuff by now. posted 1:41 AM / post 6/23/2000 Alison, who will henceforth be known as Ellie, my best friend, is leaving again tomorrow. So I'm stuck with another week of boredom while she's in Austin, Texas, doing.. something. And Charlie is gone till tomorrow at a party back in Tuscaloosa. On another note.. I really want to hit my computer! I don't know about anyone else's, but mine makes noise continually! Even when it's not doing anything, that little light that means it's working keeps flashing on and off, and on and off, and that noise is driving me insane! If anyone else has an HP Pavilion with this hyper-activity problem, email me! posted 8:20 PM / post Finally done! Yay. ^_^ And now some basic info: My name is Cath, I live in Montgomery, Alabama, and I'm 17. I'm currently on summer vacation, the best thing about still being a student. ^_^ I'll start my senior year of high school in August. I have an older brother named Charlie who's 19 and attends the University of Alabama. He plays baritone in the Million Dollar Band. My parents are still happily married and in their 28th year of marriage, although I admit that they have definitely had their problems. My dad manages the family business, and my mom is now taking classes at a local college so that she can finally get her degree. Of course, she doesn't actually know what she wants to do yet, but then.. Every plan has its flaws. ^_^Now.. With that out of the way.. I would like everyone to know that I am now learning how to drive! I'm about two years late in that. ^_^ I only started two days ago, but I think it's going well. I should be able to get myself to school this year. Yay! ^_^ posted 3:06 PM / post Whoo.. I really need to get into the habit of posting. It's been 17 days already! Anyway, I'm trying to design a layout for the blog, so excuse the dust while I work. More later!posted 2:04 PM / post 6/5/2000 Ah... My first blog. I'm looking forward to this. I'm never been able to keep up with a journal before, but maybe I can do it this time since it's on the computer. Now I can type it instead of writing it all out... ^_^Be back later, maybe. I'm watching Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken on WGN. Great movie! ^_^ posted 9:05 PM / post |
